My Way
And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friends, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full
I've travelled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way.
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill - my share of losing
But now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh no. Oh no, not me.
I did it my way.
For what is a man? What has he got?
If not himself - Then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way.
Yes, it was my way.

ReplyDeleteỪ, lyrics bài này tớ thích cả, nhưng nhớ nhất là "Regrets, I 've had a few. But then again, too few to mention", cả đoạn "For what 's a man? What has he got?", và đương nhiên là "I did it my way", chà, hâm mộ câu này quá :D .
ReplyDeleteFrank Sinatra là một ca sĩ nhạc jazz rất nổi tiếng, người hát bài "My Way" này. Cậu nhớ lyrics "It 's my life" có câu "Like Frankie said 'I did it my way' " không? "Frankie" nghĩa là Frank Sinatra này đấy :).
Tớ nghĩ Frank Sinatra cũng là người gây ảnh hưởng tới âm nhạc của Bon Jovi, hôm sau tớ sẽ nói tại sao tớ nghĩ thế :) .

ReplyDeleteThật á? Cậu có biết bài "Don't write me off ko"? Trong đấy cũng có câu "I haven't felt like this since before Frankie said relax". Lúc trước tớ cũng thấy lạ vì có cái tên trùng với "It's my life". Tớ cứ nghĩ ông này là nhà triết học nào đấy. Cười. Ko biết Frankie của bài này có phải là Frank Sinatra ko nhỉ?

ReplyDeleteFrank Sinatra's "My Way" has been banned from many bars across the Philippines after at least six people were killed in the last decade while performing karaoke renditions of the song.
The so-called "My Way killings" have led to many bars in the karaoke-obsessed country removing the song from their playlists amid fears of violence.
Bar owners believe the number of deaths could be fuelled by what some perceive as "arrogance" in the lyrics of the song.
It is one of the most popular karaoke tunes in the Philippines which also has a more than one million illegally carried guns.
Most of the killings are reported to have happened after the singer sang out of tune and crowds jeered.
In one fatal case Romy Baligula, 29, was shot dead in the city of San Mateoin 2007. He was halfway through My Way when a security guard shouted that he was out of tune. He carried on regardless and the guard shot him in the chest with a revolver.
Karaoke killings have been recorded elsewhere in Asia. In Thailand two years ago a man shot dead eight of his neighbours after becoming enraged when they repeatedly sang John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads.
In 2008 Abdul Sani Doli hogged the microphone for so long in Sandakan, Borneo that listeners stabbed him to death.
Rodolfo Gregorio, 63, a karaoke singer in the Philippine city of General Santos, said: "The trouble with My Way is that everyone knows it and everyone has an opinion. You can get killed."

ReplyDeleteTTCT - Tại Philippines, người dân rất tự hào về năng khiếu ca hát của mình nên ít tỏ ra khoan dung trước những ai hát karaoke dở. Khi họ đã quá quen thuộc một bài hát tiếng Anh nào thì người hát phải dè chừng, đặc biệt là đối với bài My way của Paul Anka viết cho ca sĩ Frank Sinatra.
Báo chí nước này cho biết có rất nhiều vụ đánh nhau khiến 5-6 người thiệt mạng trong 10 năm qua vì My way. Nhiều quán bar karaoke phải rút bài hát ra khỏi danh mục để tránh rắc rối.
Theo Butch Albarracin thuộc trường dạy hát Center for Pop ở Manila, My way thể hiện một cách hiện sinh rất khiêu khích. “Bài hát này thể hiện sự kiêu ngạo của người hát, tự cho mình là ai đó trong khi thực tế chẳng là gì cả. Nó che đậy những thất bại của anh nên khiến người ta đánh nhau” - Albarracin giải thích.
Những người bảo vệ My way cho rằng bài hát là nạn nhân của sự thành công của chính mình. Quá nhiều người chọn bài này và người hát bị cười nhạo vì hát “theo kiểu của tôi” nên cuối bài hát thường có cảnh đánh nhau. Xã hội Philippines vốn đang gặp tình trạng bạo lực nên karaoke chỉ là dịp để bùng phát.
